Those aren’t the dots you fill in. Those are alignment dots and not useful data. fft matching is robust enough without them.

And the whole thing is crc and hash verified, so i’s unlikely you can corrupt any data.

I looked into this year's ago.

Apparently QR codes are virtually indestructible. You could use a chisel pen and put a line across the whole block and the QR code would still work.

That’s probably still totally readable, those don’t contain any of the information, you’d want to mark the other parts.

Also there’s a crazy amount of ECC in those. Toyota designed them to be printed onto medal parts in a factory and still be readable after the parts are tumbled/slid against each other.
